My name is Brigitte Richard and I am the owner and artist behind The Potter's Cup. I specialize in custom wheel thrown pottery - particularly cups for any occasion.
about the artist
Raised in Nuernberg Germany, Brigitte graduated from the ceramics program at Berufsschule fur Keramik Landshutand followed by a three year apprenticeship at Topferei Ochsenreiter. She went on to complete her fine arts degree at the Akademie der Bildenden Kuenste Nuernberg. With more than 35 years of experience in ceramics, Brigitte now works as a studio artist focusing on functional ceramics in San Antonio, Texas. Working in both earthenware and stoneware, each piece is wheel thrown and intricately detailed utilizing embossing and hand sculpting techniques before being fired to cone 04. She then hand paints and inscribes each piece uniquely before finishing at either cone 6 or 06. Brigitte is most recognized for her use of colorful patterns and whimsical detailing.
